started in 2017, sleepy queers productions was created to fill a need in the drag community. it was clear that performers from different gender expressions didn’t have a place where they could learn and grow, to fill that need we created COMMERCIAL DRAG which ran for 3 years and over 90 shows.
we have always partnered with and produced shows in venues who wouldn’t necessarily be considered “queer” but who we did recognize and celebrate as allies. this model afforded us access to audiences who were warm, generous and loud!
in 2021 we stepped out of soley producing drag and ventured into the world of music. we noticed that vancouver has a rich list of queer musical talent. we began forging space for these artists at our shows and have begun moving towards a 2025 initiative to elevate queer musical artists by producing showcases and a queer music festival in summer 2025.
we have an ongoing relationship with R&B BREWING which is home to many of our drag productions. with their support we have sold out every show we have hosted in their iconic east vancouver tasting room.
while our focus has been drag and music primarily, we have also started working with more theatrical presentations as well, with more to come in the future.
